Art Nouveau Delights!

Ålesund’s historical ‘main street’ is the narrow Bridge Sound (Brosundet) that cuts through the heart of the city.

We climb onto our boards and join the vibrant city life in the sound. Our senses come alive with the buzz, aromas and the pastel colors of the art nouveau facades adorning the city’s main artery.

Our paddles slice through the crystal-clear water as we pass under bridges while waving to the friendly faces adorning the sound.

Exiting the sound Borgund Fjord’s infinite sky opens exposing Sula Mountain and the Sunnmøre Alps. Sitting low in the water gazing at this magnificent picture humbles the most seasoned traveler.  Gliding out on Borgund Fjord tales of days gone by as we alone discover Ålesund from the water’s surface.
