KMT’s hiring interview & workshop is an intense 4-day interview session during which you will interact with other applicants and Kayak More Tomorrow staff in a variety of exercises that involve problem solving, teamwork, sea kayak mechanics and a little bit of public speaking, as well a brief sea kayak technical skills assessment will be conducted. It’s challenging and a lot of fun.
The cost of travel to and your stay in Ålesund during the KMT’s hiring interview & workshop is the sole responsibility of each applicant.

Kayak More Tomorrow will be holding a hiring interview & workshop in England during the late winter of 2017.
If you are interested in attending our KMT hiring interview & workshop in England, then your application must be submitted to KMT a min. of 6 weeks prior to the UK hiring interview & workshop.

Note: If you do not currently hold a Wilderness First Responder/ CPR certification valid through October 2017, please get certified prior to arriving as this certification is mandatory for KMT Sea Kayak Guides.

A KMT sea kayak guide is responsible for:
A IFSKGIA certification is a measure of quality; it is clear that all those who paddle with a guide will notice the immense difference of highly qualified IFSKGIA guides to those ‘guides’ who have little to no qualifications.
A KMT Sea Kayak guide has the necessary training, experience, skills and abilities to provide the KMT standard of service to all KMT clients; is an expert sea kayaker with the highest international level of on-water paddling skills and abilities.
Kayak More Tomorrow has a clear and unwavering expectation that any and all sea kayak guides have extensive experience, training and practice in the following areas:
A KMT sea kayak guide is expected to provide KMT’s quality and standards when working with clients, guides & guide school participants; it is expected that a KMT sea kayak guide will set a good example in all situations.

Duties and Responsibilities of a KMT Sea Kayak Guide:

Sea kayak guides will ensure that the Kayak More Tomorrow standard is upheld at all times when guiding and while working at a KMT sea kayak center.
Kayak More Tomorrow overnight trips & kayak holidays
A sea kayak guide shall lead these trips in a responsible fashion this entails the following; risk management for ensuring a safe and well planned trip, co-ordinating the work load of the trip between the assistant and lead guide (when working with an assistant), ensuring a good atmosphere among the trip’s guides, paying particular attention to cost management and the trip budget, and most of all being responsible for customer satisfaction. A sea kayak guide is required to lead his/her trips in a safe and responsible manner.

Kayak More Tomorrow day trips & outfitting program
Sea kayak guides shall lead sea kayak day trips which include hiking, interpretations, cultural visits, and lunch. They will also oversee KMT’s sea kayak outfitting program

Sea Kayak guides will be required to work at KMT sea kayak centres. The areas of operation in which they will be required to work may include the follow:
The Physical Demands of a KMT sea kayak guide
Although the leadership, customer service and knowledge you provide to our guests is at the core of being a successful KMT sea kayak guide, you must also possess the basic physical skills to be able to paddle long distances and as well you must be able to hike any of the daily distances, while carrying a full daypack. Leading trips also involves a substantial amount of heavy lifting. For example, you will be trained to lift a kayak onto the top of the van/trailer. You are also expected to load and unload large pieces of luggage and or gear on a daily basis. In terms of mechanical skills, you must be able to learn how to repair kayaks, hitch a trailer to the van, drive a large vehicle confidently, etc.
Peak Season Availability
A KMT sea kayak guide must be able to work during our peak season which runs from May 1st through the end of September.
